Atlanta, April 22, 2024 – Thérèse S. “Tee” Barnes has been reappointed for another six-year term as Clerk and Court Executive of the Supreme Court of Georgia.

Her latest term will start on Aug. 1, 2024. Barnes has served as Clerk since 2006.

She graduated from Mercer University School of Law in 1981, and after graduation, practiced civil business litigation. She later served as a staff attorney to former Justices Carol W. Hunstein and Harold D. Melton before her first appointment as Clerk.

As Clerk/Ct. Executive, Mrs. Barnes oversees the office responsible for maintaining all case files and tracking the progress of cases through the Supreme Court. She also works closely with the Chief Justice and other Justices to coordinate a wide range of administrative matters.

“On behalf of the Court, I would like to express our appreciation for Mrs. Barnes’ years of dedication to ensuring the efficiency of our Court’s operations and the highest standards of public service,” said Chief Justice Michael P. Boggs. “We are so fortunate that she will continue in this role for another term.”

In October 2023, the St. Thomas More Society of Atlanta honored Mrs. Barnes for her dedication to public service and the judiciary, in particular for her steadfast administrative leadership during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. She also received the Outstanding Aluma Award from Mercer University School of Law in February 2023.
