The Honorable Nels S.D. Peterson was sworn in as the 35th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the State Capitol.
The Honorable Sarah Hawkins Warren was sworn in as the new Presiding Justice. Outgoing Chief Justice Michael P. Boggs swore in both Justices, who were unanimously selected by their colleagues in February 2025.
Judge Britt Grant of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit introduced Presiding Justice Warren, and Chief Judge William Pryor, also of the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, introduced Chief Justice Peterson.
