Atlanta, October 2, 2018 – Charles Jones (“Charlie”) Bethel was sworn in this morning by Governor Nathan Deal as the newest Justice on the Supreme Court of Georgia. Justice Bethel previously served as a judge on the Georgia Court of Appeals, the state’s intermediate appellate court. Before that, he was elected four times to the Georgia State Senate where he served as an Administration Floor Leader, a Deputy Whip, and the Chair of both the Insurance & Labor Committee and the Reapportionment and Redistricting Committee. Justice Bethel’s wife, Lynsey, stood by his side as the Governor administered the oath of office in the House Chamber of the State Capitol.
