Atlanta, May 16, 2018 – The Supreme Court of Georgia will hold oral arguments
in Marietta next Monday, May 21, in the Cobb County Superior Courthouse
located at 70 Haynes Street, a block behind the square.

At the 10 a.m. session, the Court will hear two appeals: one in a criminal case and
one in a civil case. The first is an appeal of a Georgia Court of Appeals ruling that
hearsay evidence identifying an alleged child sex abuser must be excluded when
the case goes to trial in Cobb County. The second is an appeal of a DeKalb County
Superior Court decision finding unconstitutional a local law that sets up a new way
of appointing members to the county Board of Ethics.

Each year, the Court travels outside of Atlanta to hear cases for the purpose of
making the Court’s business and the judicial process more accessible to the public.
Monday’s session will be held in the ceremonial courtroom of the seven-story
Cobb courthouse.

The public and media are welcome. However, due to limited capacity, we ask that
any media planning to attend – print or broadcast – please fill out the media request
form located on the Court’s website: www.gasupreme.us.
